University of Santo Tomas reasserted its dominance in the UAAP judo tournament with season MVPs Al Rolan Llamas and Annie Ramirez leading the medal haul over the weekend at Blue Eagle Gym in Loyola Heights.
After dropping out of the podium last season, UST pulled off a double championship in the men’s and women’s divisions for the third time in four years with the Tigers amassing 45 points and the Tigresses piling up 42 points.
The Tigers finished with a haul of one gold, five silver and five bronze medals, highlighted by Llamas’ win over teammate Adrian Mercado in the 66 kg category.
Ramirez (63 kg) and Princess Lucman (78 kg) also ruled their classes for the Tigresses, who also nailed two silvers and six bronzes.
Ateneo, the deposed men’s champion, wound up a close second with 43 points and also settled for a runner-up finish with 32 points in the women’s side.
But the Blue Eaglets emerged as runaway winners in the juniors division with MVP Christian Clemente and Rookie of the Year Ariel Querubin leading Ateneo to a 73-point total over UST’s 34.
