Daquigan halts Castañeda streak

Dexter Daquigan snapped the three-race winning streak of Daniel Castañeda in the fourth leg of the VW Kafer Cup 2014 at Clark International Speedway recently.

Daquigan, of Delta Star Transformer-VW Santa Monica, swept both the Pre-Final and Final race to emerge the Class A champion over Castañeda and third placer Raffy Locson.

With mechanics Jon Porto and Jun Ruiz adjusting the setup of his 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle 1303, Daquigan topped the Time Trials in 2:27.127, a second faster than Castañeda, to claim the pole position for the Pre-Final race.

Castañeda grabbed the front at the start of the Pre-Final race but a costly lapse allowed Daquigan to grab the top spot.

Daquigan, who is supported by Daquigan Sports Factory, Hispeed Piston, Maliwan Thai Kitchen, Homies Trading, Auto intensity, HGD Line Hardware, Wipeout Autocraft, 8A Performance and Flashbacks Autohaus, hit a fast laptime of 2:27.860 in the second to pull ahead and later wrested the lead in the third. He finished the 5-lap race 3.194 seconds ahead of the field.
