Meanwhile, Systema tries to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss to IEC when it clashes with reigning UAAP champion Far Eastern U in a men’s division match at 4 p.m.
The Active Smashers, who dropped a five-setter in their V-League debut, are pinning their hopes on Christopher Antonio, their top scorer with 23 points. Systema is also expected to parade actor Richard Gomez who finished with four points in two sets of action.
Army and Cagayan will be giving each other a different look. Army has added Dindin Santiago, which debuted with 10 points, to the lineup that won the championship the last time while the Rising Suns have Thai aces Patcharee Saengmuang and Amporn Hyapha.
The Lady Troopers kicked off their bid for back-to-back crowns by overpowering Meralco, 25-19, 25-18, 25-18, Sunday.
Payback will be on the minds of the Lady Rising Suns after Army swept them in the Open Conference finals. Patcharee and Amporn should give the Lady Rising Suns more firepower as the Thais join forces with Aiza Maizo and Janine Marciano.
