Hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach arrived in General Santos City yesterday to take over Manny Pacquiao’s training for his title bout with Chris Algieri on Nov. 23 in Macau.
Roach was accompanied by Stan Martyniouk and two other boxers, who will serve as Pacquiao’s sparring partners throughout the seven-week training camp for the 12-round pay-per-view bout, where Manny will stake his WBO welterweight crown.
Pacquiao took a break from his training yesterday to give Roach and the two boxers enough rest from the long trip before they plunge into hard training today.
To sweat it out, Pacquiao did an early morning walk with Vice President Jojo Binay, according to assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez, who supervised the early phase of the eight-division world champion’s preparations.
Conditioning coach Justin Fortune arrived last week and inserted plyometrics into Pacquiao’s training regimen.
