Competition shifts to high gear in the 18th Sletba Open as the first finals of the tournament roll off today at Sta. Lucia Mall in Cainta, Rizal.
Thirty-six qualifiers led by Lito Santarinala of Sletba (Sta. Lucia East Tenpin Bowling Association), and Nilo Penado and Elson Campita, both of the Pasig Bowling Association (PBA), will vie for the Senior Masters title starting at 10 a.m.
The champion will get P40,000, while the first runner-up and second runner-up will get P20,000 and P10,000, respectively. The top three finishers will also get a trophy each.
The qualifiers have so far posted high scores due to the well-kept lanes, promising a tough and exciting fight among the contenders. Ding de Leon of Sletba, who has produced one of four perfect games, is one of the finalists every one will be watching for.
The ranking in the other groups remains unchanged except for Group 2 which saw Eric Umali of Sletba edging out Santarinala for the top spot. Qualifying games will be held from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. today and tomorrow.
