Heated matches highlight fifth PFL playdate

MANILA, Philippines—Five exciting games and an exhibition match marked the fifth Sunday of the 3rd Philippine Futsal League.

The match day opened with a Group A leader Manhur Football Club’s 7-4 victory over Lions FC, giving them a spot in the quarterfinals.

Manhur, powered by some players from the first and second division of the UFL, will face the No. 2 team in Group C.

PWU earned the second spot in their group when they were awarded a win by the Technical Committee after Team Impact FC failed to show up and the match was defaulted.

In Group B, Don Bosco United FC drew with Manila FC, 6-6, while a superior Pars squad swamped the Futkaleros, 18-4 zooming the team to the top of Group C.

The Malditas smashed PNU, 38-0 in the lone women’s game that afternoon. Sam Nierras scored 10 goals, which zoomed her to the third spot for the top goal scorers of the season in the Women’s Division.

Jocelyn Guico of Pasargad who has already scored a total of 15 goals in 2 matches is at first while teammate and Pasargad Women’s skipper Marigen Ariel, a member of the Las Amigas women’s national futsal team, is at second with 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Manila FC standout and former national player Vicente Filamer Rosell currently leads the league in number of goals scored with 15. Khodorami Sajad is at second place with 10 goals while teammate Nasser Hosseinzadeh is at third with seven goals.

Philippine Futsal League is ongoing every Sundays at the Rizal Memorial Stadium until Oct 23.
