Carrera-Benitez posts 2 Petron beach volley wins

PANGASINAN spikers Melanie Carrera and Cindy Benitez lived up to their top billing with two successive wins in the final leg of the 2014 Petron Ladies’ Beach Volleyball Tournament at the sand-courts of University of the East-Caloocan campus on Friday. Carrera and Benitez pace Group A after disposing of Dasmariñas tossers Sheila Mae Nanquil and Alyanna Gorospe, 21-4. They later whipped Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina 1 bets Shirley Martinez and Lourdes dela Cruz, 21-8. Meanwhile, Viray twins Nieza and Jieziela, also from Pangasinan, opened their campaign with 21-7 rout of St. Michael-Laguna 2’s Raissa Mae Punan and Maja Minorka Mercado, before bowing to UE’s Francisclyn Cais and Krycel Cueva, 18-21.
