112.9 km triathlon highlights Unilab Tri United 3
A punishing 112.9-kilometer triathlon across two provinces highlights the Unilab Active Health’s Tri United 3 on Oct. 26.
The unique point-to-point competition from Zambales to Pampanga features a 1.9-kilometer swim leg on Dungaree Beach at Subic Bay Freeport, a 90 km bike from the beach to Sandbox, Alviera in Porac, and a 21 km run—the equivalent of a half marathon—around Porac.
About 650 racers have already signed up for the grueling Elite race as well as in other categories in the age groups and team competition.
Article continues after this advertisementA total cash prize of P20,000, medals and gift packs will be awarded to the top three male and female elite triathletes.
Race briefing is set at 5 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center, a day before the race fires off at 6 a.m. The awarding ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at Alviera.
Raul Cuevas, head of race organizer Bike King, said safety measures will be implemented in the endurance event, including cut-off times in every leg and traffic closure in the Tarlac-bound lane of SCTEx from Tipo to Porac exit.
