A punishing 112.9-kilometer triathlon across two provinces highlights the Unilab Active Health’s Tri United 3 on Oct. 26.
The unique point-to-point competition from Zambales to Pampanga features a 1.9-kilometer swim leg on Dungaree Beach at Subic Bay Freeport, a 90 km bike from the beach to Sandbox, Alviera in Porac, and a 21 km run—the equivalent of a half marathon—around Porac.
About 650 racers have already signed up for the grueling Elite race as well as in other categories in the age groups and team competition.
A total cash prize of P20,000, medals and gift packs will be awarded to the top three male and female elite triathletes.
Race briefing is set at 5 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center, a day before the race fires off at 6 a.m. The awarding ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at Alviera.
Raul Cuevas, head of race organizer Bike King, said safety measures will be implemented in the endurance event, including cut-off times in every leg and traffic closure in the Tarlac-bound lane of SCTEx from Tipo to Porac exit.
