Wesley bags P4.48M, crashes world’s top 10

Filipino Grandmaster Wesley So won the Millionaire Chess Open Monday night (Tuesday in Manila) at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas to bag the $100,000 (about P4.48 million) and barge into the world’s top 10. Living up to his top seeding, So beat Webster University teammate GM Ray Robson, 1.5-0.5, in the finals to raise his Elo live rating to a personal-best 2762 on five wins and two draws, dislodging former world champion Vladimir Kramnik (2760) of Russia at 10th spot.
