Final preparations are underway for the Bataan International Triathlon, which is set on November 29-30 at the picturesque Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan.

The inaugural race now has drawn over 600 participants composed of both seasoned and novice triathletes from all over the Philippines and even abroad. Some of triathlons biggest names, both locally and internationally, are gearing up for the inaugural event.

Bi3 will have a stacked field of Filipino Elite athletes with national team member Nikko Huelgas, former Ironman 70.3 Philippine Champions Arland Macasieb and Noy Jopson and Xterra Pro Joseph Miller at the starting line.

Their varied fields of specialization will make for an interesting outcome of the men’s race–Nikko’s short-course experience will be pitted against Arland and Noy’s long-course pedigree and Joseph’s off-road expertise.

Aside from the Filipino elites, Bi3 will also see Xterra stars Ben Allen of Australia and Jacqui Slack of the United Kingdom on the start line. Neither are strangers to the Philippine triathlon scene as both had raced in Ironman 70.3 Philippines and 5i50 Philippines in 2013 and have been staples at Xterra Philippines since 2012.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to take part in the Bataan International Triathlon. We have experienced 1st hand the amazing atmosphere, friendly people and beautiful places that the Philippines offers. So with that said we look forward to being involved with everything that’s on offer to provide us with the ultimate triathlon experience.”

Aside from participating in the event, Ben and Jacqui will conduct clinics and talks in line with the Bataan International Triathlon.

On top of these triathlon superstars, Bi3 will be participated in by the differently-abled athletes from Team No Limits. The team, which is composed primarily of therapists and patients of Communicare Therapy Center for Children, is led by coach Anthony Lozada of the Bert Lozada Swim School.

Blackbeard’s Seafood Island Team (ESC every second counts) will also participate in the inaugural race event.

With this line-up of participants, the inaugural Bataan International Triathlon is shaping up to be one of the most exciting races in the Philippine multisport calendar.
