Southwestern U and University of San Carlos sustained their twin title bids after splitting their first two games in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) title series.

The winner of the best-of-five showdown will not only rule Visayas’ premier varsity tournament, but will also bag the Southern Island crown of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL).

Led by Shooster Olago, the USC Warriors leveled the series with a 53-47 triumph over the SWU Cobras in Game 2 Tuesday night at Cebu City Coliseum.

In other PCCL games, University of San Jose-Recoletos won past Negros Occidental-Recoletos, 88-82, in the Visayas-Mindanao qualifiers.

The win set up the USJ-R for another knockout match against Cesafi third placer University of Visayas for a slot in the Elite Eight of the nationwide tournament. Jasmine W. Payo
