Powerhouse teams Army and Cagayan Valley renew their rivalry today with the Lady Troopers shooting for a title berth in the women’s division of the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Third Conference at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Troopers are gunning for a fifth straight win in the 6 p.m. duel with the Lady Rising Suns who are also attempting to strengthen their bid to nail a berth in the championship round.
Instituto Estetico Manila also tries to nail the first finals seat in the inaugural men’s play as it collides with a struggling Far Eastern U side in the 4 p.m. opener.
Tied with Systema Tooth and Gum Care, the Volley Masters are looking for a repeat win over the Tamaraws, whom they drubbed in straight sets in the first round.
Despite a 1-3 record, FEU remains in the hunt for a finals berth, although it would need two losses by either IEM or Systema for the Tams to gain a playoff for the last finals berth.
With a 2-1 record, Cagayan is hard pressed to avenge its five-set loss to Army in the first round.
The Lady Rising Suns, who wasted a one-set lead in losing to the Lady Troopers last Oct. 7, are hoping to stay in the hunt with three more play dates left in the double-round eliminations.
Cagayan is actually seeking a third straight win, following victories over PLDT Home Telpad and Meralco. And the Lady Rising Suns will offer the Lady Troopers a far fiercer look with Thai standouts Saengmuang Patcharee and Amporn Hyapha reinforcing Cagayan Valley.
