Dwyane Wade fulfills wish of Filipina grandma

MANILA, Philippines – Dwyane Wade is called the Flash, but one Filipina grandma is flashier.

Illuminada Magtoto, also known as Grandma Nelly, took to YouTube challenging the three-time NBA champion to a one-on-one basketball game.

Several days later, on Tuesday (Manila time), Grandma Nelly paid a visit to the Miami Heat star during his practice session to take on Wade for her 90th birthday which the official YouTube channel of the Miami Heat posted.

“All my life I’ve been longing to see him,” Grandma Nelly said, which, mathematically, was adorably impossible as Wade is only 32-years-old. “Now this is it.”

Walking to the paint area of the practice facility where Wade was training, the shooting guard had one arm around Grandma Nelly who managed to reach the 6-foot-4 All Star’s chest.

Wade assisted Grandma Nelly on several shots, even tipping in a missed shot.

“You throw better lines than Mario Chalmers,” Wade joked with Grandma Nelly.

Chalmers is the Heat’s starting point guard which flamed out during the 2014 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.

After the one-on-one which everybody won, Wade said that “this is real” while pointing to tears in his eyes.

“Oh my God,” Grandma Nelly squealed when the 2006 NBA Finals MVP kissed her hand.

“When someone else’s happiness is your happiness. That is love,” Wade posted on Instagram after the game.
