Cannonball 1000 entry list expands

A TELEVISION show host and a seasoned Fil-Am rider are joining the Cannonball 1000, a novel motorsports event featuring cars and motorcycles in a 24-hour race across 1,000 kilometers of the most scenic routes in North Luzon.

Danby Henares, host of the TV show Xtreme Riders, and Fil-Am Rene Marquez are among the early participants in the Cannonball 1000 slated Jan. 9, 2015.

Henares will ride his KTM Adventure 1190, while Marquez will lead the Fil-Am Riders in the Group Event.

Open to all cars and motorcycles 301cc and above, the Cannonball 1000 is organized by six-time endurance champion Joey Almeda.

The special Group Event features 10-rider teams under the Open Class. Each team rides together as a group.

Underbones and scooters with engine displacements of 300cc and below will fall under a different class, the Cannonball 500.

Riders will trace a similar but more compact route of 500 km under a 12-hour time limit.

All events will start and finish at Widus Hotel and Casino in Clark Field, Pampanga. Special prizes and giveaways await all participants.
