Carlos Anton ended the “Final Showdown” race the way he started in Circuit Showdown four years ago: with the fastest time of the day.
Anton, driving an 800-horsepower Mark Young-WorksBell Nissan GTR dubbed “Markzilla,” clocked the day’s fastest time of 2 minutes and 1.990 seconds at Clark International Speedway recently.
Anton beat Joby Tanseco, who was in a 991 Porsche Turbo-S.
Anton’s 10-year-old son Iñigo also shone by outclassing drivers from different race brackets, registering 2:23.627 on board a Honda EG. His time propelled him from bracket F to bracket C.
“Iñigo drove a great race today and his progress is just skyrocketing,” Anton said of his son.
“He has been a consistent podium finisher in the lower brackets but now in only his fifth race, he is already among the top 20 fastest drivers in the series.”
Anton ended the Circuit Showdown series with six lap records and 25 overall wins in the races organized by the group led by the late Enzo Pastor.
The series will now be rebranding itself for the 2015 season after the loss of its founder.
