Top Seed Marcus Del Rosario and No. 2 pick Stephan Lhuillier trounced their respective rivals to barge into the quarterfinals in the boys’ 14-under yesterday in the 33rd Philippine Columbian Association Open presented by Cebuana Lhuillier and Metro Global Holdings at PCA indoor shell clay courts in Paco, Manila.
Del Rosario booted out Jules Lazaro, 6-1, 6-4, while Lhuillier blanked Lance Matthew Sy, 6-0, 6-0.
Del Rosario will face Joshua Austria, who ousted Alexander Bulilan, 5-7, 7-5 (10-8). Lhuillier will battle Fhad Kennete Banico, who downed Andrian Encinares, 6-0, 6-3.
Karl Christian Baran also advanced at the expense of Nicholas Ian Balmes, 6-2, 6-1. Baran will meet Jose Maria Pague, who turned back Norman Gaspar, 2-6, 6-4 (10-6).
Minette April Bentillo and Prince Najeeb Langitao also advanced by dumping Marielle Alexi Jarata, 4-0, 4-0, and Samuel Reane Nuguit, 5-4 (6), 4-2, respectively.
