Lyceum Sharks join Luzon-MM regionals

Lyceum Subic Bay clinched the last regional berth in ruling the North-Central Luzon qualifier of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) yesterday at Lyceum of Northwestern University gym in Dagupan City.

John Timbog pumped in 19 points as the Lyceum Sharks outlasted La Finns Scholastica of La Union, 85-74, in overtime to round out the cast of the Luzon-Metro Manila regional tournament.

Cezar Carey shot 13 and Anjo Torres chipped in 10 for the Sharks, who avenged their loss to the Lion Hearts, 67-73, in the preliminary round.

Lyceum quickly plunges back into action today versus Metro Manila leg champion St. Clare at the start of the stepladder, knockout regionals at 2 p.m. at First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (Faith) gym in Tanauan City.

Naga College Foundation, which recently topped the South Luzon-Bicol leg, tackles Metro Manila qualifier Diliman College in the other match at 4 p.m.

Other contenders in the Luzon-Metro Manila regionals are La Salle, Jose Rizal University, Perpetual Help and Centro Escolar University.

Only the regional champion will join the Elite Eight cast of UAAP titlist National University, five-time NCAA king San Beda, Far Eastern University, Arellano, Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc.’s (Cesafi) finalists Southwestern University and University of San Carlos, and Visayas-Mindanao leg winner University of Visayas
