JACKIE Tan-Ho drubbed Maxine Martin, 6-1, 6-4, yesterday and gained her first title crack in the girls’ 14-under singles against top seed Mikaela Vicencio who bundled out Blanche Lagrisola, 6-4, 6-1, yesterday in the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) open age-group competitions in Paco, Manila.
Vicencio, who got a bye to the second round, booked her place in the finals by ousting Lagrisola. She earlier crushed Anna Laura de Myer, 6-2, 6-1, in the quarterfinals.
Tan-Ho, a 9th grader at International School whose sister Jasmine is another age-group stalwart, posted earlier victories over Li Jian Thean, 6-2, 6-3, and Erenn Lance dela Cruz, 6-0, 6-0.
In boys’ 14-under, No. 1 seed Marcus del Rosario edged Joshua Austria, 7-5, 6-3, to set a semifinal duel against Jose Maria Pague, who stunned fourth-ranked Karl Kristian Baran, 6-1, 7-5.
Third seed Janus Ringia downed Gabriel Tiamson, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, to arrange a semis encounter against Stephan Lhuillier, who eliminated Fahd Kenneth Banico, 6-4, 6-4.
Meanwhile, 18-under top seed Marcen Angelo Gonzales ousted Kyle Parpan, 6-0, 6-4.
