SHANGHAI—Antonio Lascuña finally had his best round of 1-over 73 Saturday but remained among the tailenders after 54 holes of the $8.5-million WGC-HSBC Champions on Saturday.
With earlier rounds of 76-79, the lone Filipino in the elite field stood at 228, a distant 23 strokes behind Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell, who kept the lead by one shot over Japan’s Hiroshi Iwata at the Sheshan International Golf Club.
Lascuña goes into the final round tied for 72nd place with Jaco Van Zyl.
McDowell, who cooled off with a 71, was also under siege from Martin Kaymer and Bubba Watson, who were just two strokes behind at 207.
Meanwhile, Juvic Pagunsan shot a third straight 69 for 207 to climb into a tie for 20th after three rounds of the Heiwa PGM Championship in Ibaraki, Japan. He trailed leader Tomohiro Kondo of Japan by nine shots.
