MANILA, Philippines — GlobalPort guard Terrence Romeo missed the game against Blackwater on Sunday due to a throat infection.
Romeo played only 14 minutes and shot a miserable 1-of-12 from the field to finish with just two points in the Batang Pier’s 84-79 win over Kia last Tuesday.
“Masakit lalamunan ko tapos naapektuhan na sikmura ko sabi ng doktor ipahinga ko kasi mahaba pa naman (ang) season,” Romeo told INQUIRER.net.
(My throat hurts and my stomach has been affected so the doctor told me to rest as the season is still long.)
The 22-year-old Romeo has been on a shooting slump as of late. He exploded for 33 points on 14-of-26 shooting from the field in Globalport’s first game this season but has scored only 16 points making only five out of his combined 23 attempts in his next three games.
The former Far Eastern University star, a high school and seniors MVP during his time in the UAAP, also said he will go back to practice on Monday and his return on the court will depend on his coaches.
“Magpa-practice na ako on Monday so depende na sa mga coaches, kay coach Pido (Jarencio) kung kailan (I will return to practice on Monday so it depends on my coaches, on coach Pido when I’ll be back),” he said.
The game between GlobalPort and Blackwater is still ongoing as of posting time.
