Petron guns for No. 6 vs Cignal Friday
UNBEATEN Petron returns from a lengthy rest to tackle Cignal today in the opening game of a triple bill in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix women’s volleyball presented by Asics at Cuneta Astrodome.
Petron tries to extend its winning streak to six when it tangles at 2 p.m. with Cignal, which is tied for second with idle RC Cola-Air Force at 3-2.
Generika and Foton, inspired by their blistering upset wins last Wednesday, collide in the second women’s division match at 4 p.m.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Life Savers (2-3) stunned the Cignal HD Spikers, while the Foton Tornadoes (1-5) shocked the Mane ’N Tail Lady Stallions (2-4) both in straight sets in their last outing and try to boost their stock in the Final Four race with another win.
Although boasting a talented pair of imports in Alaina Bergsma and Erica Adachi and a prolific local crew led by MVP contender Dindin Santiago, the Blaze Spikers can’t afford to take it easy against the HD Spikers, who are seeking a huge comeback after their upset loss.
But Cignal has yet to draw the best from reinforcements Lindsay Stalzer and Sarah Ammerman, who have yet to fully blend with their teammates.

Cignal has won all its three outings thus far and leads the men’s division. PLDT-Air Force, meanwhile, is hoping to tab its second win in two games.
In a late men’s game Wednesday,, Cavite stopped Bench-Systema, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24, to post its second win in four outings.
Bench dropped its second straight match and shares last place with Maybank at 0-2.
