MANILA, Philippines — Ray Parks did his damage early and Hapee made quick work of Bread Story-Lyceum, 67-52, in the 2015 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Ray Parks scored 12 of his 18 points in the first half, where the Fresh Fighters flaunted their depth for a 37-16 advantage.
“We had a good start and that’s our game plan,” said Hapee head coach Ronnie Magsanoc. “And we were able to sustain it because we played well defensively. I thought that was the key.”
The Fresh Fighters tightened their defensive screws to shut the Pirates down to just 7-of-31 shooting from the field and forced them to turn the ball over 11 times in the first half.
Bread Story-LPU played minus its star playmaker Jiovani Jalalon, who’s with the Arellano Chiefs competing in the PCCL.
Joseph Gabayni paced the Pirates, who slumped to their third loss in four stints, with 14 points.
