MACAU—Back at his posh suite on the 38th floor of The Venetian Macao’s south wing, Manny Pacquiao watched his masterful conquest of Chris Algieri late Sunday afternoon.
After attending Bible study, Pacquiao relaxed after a virtual 12-round workout in his successful defense of the WBO welterweight title.
Surrounded by wife Jinkee and their five children, his parents, siblings, friends and supporters, Pacquiao liked what he saw. Just like in the old days, he was agile and fiery in pummeling Algieri.
“It’s a wonderful day. I’m happy because my family is here,” Pacquiao said. “I’m thankful that all the boxers are safe.”
The first of two AirAsia Airbus A320s that ferried his 350-strong entourage from General Santos City to this former Portuguese colony will fly back home at 1 p.m. on Monday.
The Pacquiaos will be on board the second A320 that will leave at 4 p.m.
“It was bedlam at the suite,” a Team Pacquiao member said. “There were lots of food, but there were too many people.”
Mayors from Sarangani province, members of KIA Sorento which Pacquiao topbills as the playing-coach and fellow congressmen were on hand to congratulate the world champion for the win that proved that he’s still an elite fighter just a month away from his 36th birthday.
