Finnish driver, Singson rule Ducati Cup

FINNISH Jussi Hoikka and Ronald Singson romped off with overall crowns in their respective classes in the fourth and final leg of the Ducati Cup 2014 held recently at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.

Hoikka ruled for the third straight year the premiere Ducati Cup Open class, winning in 14 minutes and 6.58 seconds.  He bested Jan Vincent Mercado and Jordan Gaw in the last installment of the four-leg series.

Singson, on the other hand, registered another double-title feat by winning the Celebrity crown and upending Alvin Aguilar for the Beginners’ title.

Hoikka and Singson, along with Intermediate champion Jay Carrion, Novice winner TJ Alberto, Ducati Cup Masters top guns John Defensor and Toti Alberto and motocross champion Glenn Aguilar, led the cast of over 300 Superbikes riders and affiliate club riders in the “Philippine Ducati  Weekend” held over the weekend also at CIS.

World Superbikes champion Carlos Checa, the only Spanish rider to win in the World Superbikes Championship in 2011, also saw action under the Althea Ducati Racing Team.

Carrion, second overall behind Hoikka, turned back Richard Panlilio while TJ Alberto prevailed over Lawrence Macalinao and Jericho Arnaiz.
