Jumbo Plastic proved too strong even with a depleted roster as the Giants routed MP Hotel, 94-57, Monday to climb to third with a 4-1 record in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Marion Magat came off the bench to shoot a game-high 18 points, while Deniece Villamor and Mark Cruz added a combined 24 points for the Giants, who are missing four mainstays.
Bread Story-Lyceum rolled to a 108-97 win over the MJM M-Builders, who missed some varsity standouts that played in a collegiate league, while AMA University turned back Racal Motors, 83-76, behind the big games of Philip Paniamogan and Jay-R Taganas to tie Bread Story at 2-3.
Jackson Corpuz’s 18 points led six Pirates in twin digits.
Paniamogan sizzled from long range to finish with a game-high 22 points, while Taganas posted 21 points and 20 boards.
The Giants scored the lopsided victory even minus several key players, including Maclean Sabellina (fractured finger) and Brian Heruela (PBA call-up).
“I thought our full-court press held up,” said Giants coach Stevenson Tiu. “Our bench also made a difference in this game.”
