Iglupas, Horie eye Phinma-PSC Int’l juniors sweep

Filipino junior stalwart Khim Iglupas and Japanese Toru Horie try to reprise their triumphs last week in the Phinma-PSC International Juniors tennis championship-Week 2 which starts today at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Manila.

Iglupas, 16, drubbed Rifanty Kahfiani of Indonesia, 6-2, 6-4, in the girls’ singles final last Sunday and will gun for a sweep of the twin ITF Grade 4 tournament.

That is also the target of the Japanese top seed, who downed compatriot Yunosuke Tanaka, 6-2, 7-5, for the boys’ singles crown.

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei’s Ting Chieh-wei and Fan Chiang, Japanese Yu Fujioka, Nayu Ikeuchi and Takako Aikawa and Thai Thasaporn Naklo and Priyachanok Sukanha, and  Canadian Cassie Chung all made it to the finals of the girls’ qualifying.
