MANILA, Philippines—It looks like one Golden Stag would trade his golden antlers for the blue wings of the Eagles.

San Sebastian swingman CJ Perez is set to become a Blue Eagle of the Ateneo de Manila University once his transfer papers are sealed.

Ateneo team manager Epok Quimpo confirmed that his school is working on the transfer of Perez from the University Belt to Katipunan.

Perez averaged 18.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game in his second season for San Sebastian in the NCAA.

Quimpo hopes that Perez, whose relentless play has been compared to the Beast Calvin Abueva, would be a major boost to the Blue Eagles.

“As per school requirement, CJ will undergo transfer schedule,” Quimpo said. “Once finished, CJ will be a valuable addition to the school.”

Perez’ distinct comparison to the play of Abueva, who plies his trade in the PBA, earned him the nickname Baby Beast.
