Domingo targets Asian karting glory

AFTER clinching the Petron Blaze 100 Karter of the Year title recently, Bobby Domingo of Formula-E Racing sets his eyes on the overall crown of the 2014 Asian Karting Open Championships Series which the Philippines hosts for the second time this weekend,  Nov. 28 to 30, at Carmona Racetrack in Cavite.

Domingo captured the premier Formula 125 Open Seniors plum last August in the previous Asian karting race here duly sanctioned and approved by the world governing Commission Internationale de Karting- Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (CIK-FIA) and local governing body Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).

And another sweep of the pre-final and final race could fulfill one of his ardent wishes on his Christmas list.

Domingo was a strong contender at the start of the 2009 season but was sidelined after an accident in a Batangas race resulted in a neck injury, a hiatus that lasted nearly four years.

He came back in 2012 and, just recently, bagged the ROK Senior title campaign with a total of 375 points, 13.5 points ahead of Wayne Darvin of Team Total, who ended with 361.5 points.

In the Asian karting series, he’s currently second overall with 61 points, 14 points behind Macau ace Joao de Jesus Afonso of CKS Racing Team.
