Samboy Lim stays in coma but ‘stable’

Samboy Lim remained unconscious for the fourth straight day since collapsing during an exhibition game among former PBA players at Ynares Arena in Pasig.

The 52-year-old Lim, one of the PBA’s 25 Greatest Players, has been at the Intensive Care Unit of The Medical City in Pasig since Friday night. Teammates said he had lost consciousness on the bench.

Lim’s eldest sister, Maricor, arrived from the United States yesterday while his younger brother, Bonbon, has been informing friends of the “Skywalker” that his brother is in “stable” condition.

Lim’s condition has baffled doctors, who again examined his brain yesterday.

Lim, who played his entire pro career with the mighty San Miguel Beer squad, was reportedly unconscious for 23 minutes before reaching the hospital on Friday.

Lim’s teammates said he was doing some stretching after being relieved by coach Bogs Adornado seven minutes into the contest. He collapsed shortly afterwards.

Nelson Asaytono and Jerry Codiñera were the first to attend to Lim.
