Ildefonso, Miller head fresh ‘Greatest’ batch
Danny Ildefonso, James Yap and Willie Miller, two-time MVPs who won their awards from 1999, head the list of the next Greatest Players list to complete the 40 the PBA will recognize in its 40th anniversary in April.
Other players who won their MVPs after the league first named its 25 Greatest are also automatically included, together with Chito Loyzaga, Marc Pingris, Marlou Aquino, Jason Castro and Kerby Raymundo.
Loyzaga and Aquino barely missed the chance to be part of the first list while all the others were in their prime after 1999.
Article continues after this advertisementThe PBA assembled a selection committee to name these players. Former greats Robert Jaworski and Freddie Webb were among the members.
Others on the list are Jimmy Alapag, Jay-jay Helterbrand, Kelly Williams, Arwind Santos, Eric Menk, Asi Taulava and Mark Caguioa.
Among the recent MVP winners who was not included in the new batch was June Mar Fajardo, who is in his third year in the pros. Musong R. Castillo
