EIGHT embassies have confirmed participation in the Ambassadors Cup 2 slated in May next year.
During the recent launch held at University of Asia and the Pacific, representatives of the embassies of the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Nigeria and the US said they will support the tournament.
The Ambassadors Cup is a grassroots outreach project aimed at fostering in children from underprivileged communities a love for virtues and values through futsal (indoor football) training and competition.
Participating embassies adopt poor communities in Manila and oversee football training for six weeks before competing against teams from other communities.
The first Ambassadors Cup saw the participation of 11 teams.
Team South Africa (San Ildefonso Parish) topped the 11-under division while Team Indonesia (GK Tatalon) ruled 13-U.
