Viloria KOs Mexican in 4th round
Brian “Hawaiian Punch” Viloria continued his climb back to the top with a fourth round knockout of Mexican Armando Vazquez Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) at Glendale Civic Auditorium in Glendale, California.
The four-time, two-division world champion dropped Vazquez with a lethal left hook to the liver that ended the bout at the 1:37 mark.
The 34-year-old Viloria posted his third straight win after yielding his World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association flyweight belts to Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada last year in Macau.
Article continues after this advertisementViloria, a former World Amateur champion and 13-year pro, raised his record to 35 wins (21 KOs) against four losses. Vazquez fell to 21-12 with four KOs.
An accidental head butt inflicted an inch-long cut, which required seven stitches to close, above the left eyebrow of Viloria, according to Dr. Ed de la Vega of Philboxing. Roy Luarca
