FOLLOWING back-to-back victories in the last two days of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) Indian leg, the Manila Mavericks squad will carry with them a renewed confidence heading to the final leg in Dubai.
Led by Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Kirsten Flipkens, Daniel Nestor and Filipino-American Treat Huey, the Mavericks climbed their way to a tie for second place in the standings following victories over UAE Royals and Singapore Slammers.
The Mavericks are tied with the UAE Royals with 27 points, but they have a superior tiebreak score following their win over their rivals during the Indian leg, 27-24.
The Indian Aces lead with 30 points.
“Coming off from their good performance in the India leg, I believe our team will even be more competitive and more confident in Dubai,” said Manila Mavericks team manager Jean Henri Lhuillier.
The Mavericks are three points behind pacesetting Micromax Indian Aces, who have 30 points.
They will face the host team on opening day at 7:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. in Manila) today.
