THE HAPEE Fresh Fighters hope to be back in fighting form after a two-week break when they try to stretch their unbeaten run to six games in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup today.
“I thought the break enabled us to work on our chemistry,” said Hapee coach Ronnie Magsanoc, who finally got his whole team on board as his varsity players recently wrapped up their school commitments.
The favored Fresh Fighters seek the solo lead versus Wangs at 12 noon at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
“Instead of worrying about the negative effects of the long break, we’re looking at the positive side,” said Magsanoc.
Cafe France, running fourth with a 4-1 record, takes on the unpredictable MJM M-Builders at 2 p.m., while struggling squads Tanduay Light and MP Hotel clash at 10 a.m.
The Fresh Fighters, who share top spot with idle Cagayan Valley at 5-0, pulled through even with just an eight-man lineup in their 72-66 win over Cebuana Lhuillier two weeks ago.
In that game, Ray Parks and Garvo Lanete kept the Fresh Fighters in the thick of the action despite the absence of their San Beda players, who had to suit up for their schools in another collegiate league.
The Bakers likewise aim to boost their semifinal bid with a fifth win. They are coming off a 69-59 crushing of the Rhum Masters.
