Adamson wins 3rd straight, extends UST’s skid

MANILA, Philippines — Surging Adamson continued its winning ways after beating a skidding University of Santo Tomas, 25-17, 15-25, 25-20, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Falcons leaned on the pair of Mylene Paat and Amanda Villanueva, who scored 15 points each.

Paat and Villanueva fueled Adamson’s offense but it was at the defensive end where they really made their impact — combining for nine blocks, six coming from Paat alone.

With the win, the Lady Falcons will end the year on a high note with a three-game winning streak after dropping their first two assignments.

The Golden Tigresses had another lackluster performance as they slumped to their fourth straight defeat with a win over winless University of the East in the opener their only victory so far. EJ Laure and Ria Meneses had 11 points apiece for UST.

Jessica Galanza added 11 for Adamson, which beat Far Eastern University last week in straight sets.
