FEU blanks NU in UAAP women’s volleyball
MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University dumped National University, 25-23, 26-24, 25-10, in the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Bernadeth Pons and Toni Basas fired 15 points each for the Lady Tamaraws, which rebounded from a straight-sets loss to the Adamson Lady Falcons last week.
It was FEU’s first win over NU in five tries after the Lady Tamaraws got swept by the Lady Bulldogs in the previous two seasons.
Article continues after this advertisementJaja Santiago tried to lift NU but couldn’t do it her own. She was the lone Lady Bulldog to notch double digits in scoring with a game-high 19 points.
After pushing FEU to its limit in the second set, NU ran out of steam in the third set as the Lady Bulldogs, whose three-game winning streak was also snapped, failed to match the Lady Tams’ firepower.
FEU hiked its record to 3-3 while NU dropped to 2-3.
