ICTSI Tour’s The Duel 2 unfolds Tuesday

Cyna Rodriguez will lead the North squad yet again and this time, the long-hitting, multititled veteran hopes to go all the way in the Philippine Ladies ICTSI Golf Tour’s The Duel 2—North vs South—that tees off tomorrow at South Links in Las Piñas.

The South squad won five of the eight singles matches last year at Canlubang and completed its come-from-behind 9-7 victory in the Ryder Cup-style match.

Rodriguez is undoubtedly the most talented player in the field and the North hopes to ride her brilliance yet again beginning with the foursomes (alternate shot) and four-ball (best ball) matches in the first two days.

The eight singles matches remain the highlight of the tie with Rodriguez likely to end up clashing with Japan Ladies Tour veteran Chihiro Ikeda, the South’s ace.

“I believe it’s going to be a hell of a match because each team would try to end the year with a win no less,” said Rodriguez, a four-time winner in the LPGT Tour that ended recently.

Joining Rodriguez in the North squad are Jayvie Agojo, Jan Punzalan, Majorie Pulumbarit, Lucy Landicho and Lina de Guzman along with former Philippine Ladies Open champions Heidi Chua and Mary Grace Estuesta.

With Ikeda in the South squad are Sarah Ababa and Barsy Leonen, who delivered the Duel-clinching victories last year, Apple Fudolin, Lovelynn Guioguio, Eva Miñoza, Sylvia Torres, Anya Tanpinco and Tracy Que.

The first team to win 8.5 points clinches the tie in the event backed by Nike, Pacsports, Custom Clubmakers and Sharp.
