Hapee stakes perfect slate vs Cafe France five Monday

Unfazed by Hapee’s  perfect card halfway through the eliminations, Cafe France thinks it still has a shot at upending the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup leader today.

The Fresh Fighters, who have been winning by an average margin of 14 points, go for a seventh straight victory versus the Bakers (5-1) at 2 p.m. at Marikina Sports Complex.

“Obviously they’re a good team, but I think we have a good chance,” said Cafe France’s Filipino-American guard Maverick Ahanmisi, who who exploded for 31 points last Thursday in the Bakers’ drubbing of the MJMM-Builders, 82-73.

“As a team we have to limit our turnovers.”

Cagayan Valley, similarly on a perfect roll, tries to extend its own streak to six games versus Jumbo Plastic (5-2) at 12 noon.

“As long as we put in the hard work, I think the wins will keep on coming,” said Cagayan guard Randy Dilay.

The fifth-running Cebuana Lhuillier also aims to improve its 3-3 card when it battles AMA University in the first game at 10 a.m.

The Fresh Fighters have put premium on defense and held their opponents to just an average of 59 points, a league-best mark midway in the elimination round.
