Rising Suns keep perfect record with win over Giants

MANILA, Philippines — Cagayan Valley remained unbeaten following an 82-74 win over Jumbo Plastic in the 2015 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Monday at the Marikina Sports Complex.

Moala Tautuaa bucked a slow start to unleash 13 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter for the Rising Suns, who stayed in step with the Hapee Fresh Fighters at 6-0.

“I had one of those bad days. I started off really slow and I kind of struggled,” said Tautuaa.

“We pulled it off together in the second half,” Tautuaa said.

Cagayan seized control in the second quarter, where the Rising Suns outscored the Giants, 23-12.

Cagayan head coach Alvin Pua got tossed at the start of the second half after making contact with a referee and Tautuaa said the ejection “fired up” the team.

The Giants shot just 28% from the field and committed 28 turnovers that gave the Rising Suns 27 points off their errors. They dropped to 5-3.
