MANILA, Philippines – In a sense, he loves the Philippines.
Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt recently made known his fondness for the Philippines.
And by Philippines, Blatt means the Gilas Pilipinas.
“I love the Philippines. I’m glad to see that they did so well this year in the World Championships,” Blatt said in a press conference on Tuesday (Manila time) after his Cavaliers dispatched the Charlotte Hornets, 97-88.
Blatt took it to himself to show some love for the Philippines after a Filipino reporter was about to ask him a question.
“Great for them and the country,” Blatt said.
Before taking the cudgels of the Cavaliers, with the trio of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love leading the way, Blatt was a multi-titled coach in Europe.
