Former champion San Mateo-Rizal came away with back-to-back wins Monday and stayed on track to regaining the crown it last held in 2012 in the ongoing Cebuana Lhuillier National Girls’ Inter-secondary Softball Championship at Sto. Niño softball field in Marikina.

The San Mateo softbelles thumped San Miguel-Bulacan, 11-0, before nosing out Pasig, 2-1, to pace Group A.

In other matches, Sta. Maria-Bulacan rebounded from its shutout defeat by whitewashing Valenzuela, 24-0, to lead Group B with De La Salle-Zobel, San Francisco High School-QC and San Miguel-Bulacan sharing second with similar 1-1 records.
