San Mateo s’belles pace Cebuana Nat’l Girls tilt
Former champion San Mateo-Rizal came away with back-to-back wins Monday and stayed on track to regaining the crown it last held in 2012 in the ongoing Cebuana Lhuillier National Girls’ Inter-secondary Softball Championship at Sto. Niño softball field in Marikina.
The San Mateo softbelles thumped San Miguel-Bulacan, 11-0, before nosing out Pasig, 2-1, to pace Group A.
In other matches, Sta. Maria-Bulacan rebounded from its shutout defeat by whitewashing Valenzuela, 24-0, to lead Group B with De La Salle-Zobel, San Francisco High School-QC and San Miguel-Bulacan sharing second with similar 1-1 records.
Article continues after this advertisementDLSZ routed San Francisco, 10-3, but lost to San Miguel, 6-18, while San Francisco levelled its card by edging Marikina, 12-11.
Organized by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines headed by sportsman-businessman Jean Henri Lhuillier and hosted by Marikina Mayor Del de Guzman, the tournament attracted 11 teams led by reigning champ Manila.
