LAWRENCEBURG, Indiana — An Olympic medalist from Indiana faces a charge of criminal mischief after police say he threw rocks at vehicles and caused more than $8,000 in damage.
WCPO in Cincinnati reported that Nick Goepper was charged Friday after he and his family came forward.
Goepper’s attorneys say the skier was suffering from an anxiety attack and depression when he threw rocks at vehicles near the Hidden Valley Lake sports complex on Aug. 8. Sheriff’s deputies say the damage totaled more than $8,200.
Dearborn County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard says the 20-year-old Goepper apologized to the victims Friday and provided checks to cover the cost of the damage.
Goepper won a bronze medal in slope-style skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
