Xavier, Ateneo de Iloilo book BEST finals seats

XAVIER School and Ateneo de Iloilo booked berths in the championship game after scoring two straight wins each in the SBP division of the BEST SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament national finals held at Magis Eagles Arena of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.

Xavier School routed Bukidnon Faith Christian School, 71-43, then cruised past Berkeley School of Baguio, 60-33. Meanwhile Ateneo de Iloilo trounced past Berkeley School of Baguio, 58-40, then ran past Bukidnon Faith Christian School, 59-42, to tie Xavier at the top with a 2-0 record.

In the Passerelle division of the tournament sponsored by Milo and supported by Chris Sports, the University of the Visayas stunned defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College, 64-40, but had difficulty disposing off a tough Holy Angel University of Pampanga, 45-42, to earn a seat in the championship game. Holy Child College of Davao also scraped past Holy Angel University, 60-53, but bowed to Chiang Kai Shek, 60-62, to forge a tie at second with the defending champions.
