Honing young aces still TJGL’s mission

/ 01:08 AM December 21, 2014

THE JUNIOR Golfers League or the TJGL was established twelve years ago by a group of well-meaning junior golf parents whose modest objectives were mainly to provide aspiring junior golfers tournament opportunities to hone and display their golfing skills.

Formed under the umbrella of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP), the TJGL provided almost weekly tournaments to mostly beginner golfers who were hungry to play and learn the game in regular tournaments.

Initially hosted and adopted by public and military courses, the TJGL indirectly also allowed junior golfers whose parents were not members of private clubs a regular venue to play.

The TJGL has almost became a rite of passage for almost every junior golfer in the greater metropolitan Manila to begin their junior golf careers with the TJGL.

The list of alumni include former junior world champion, Philippine Ladies Open Champion and current Ladies Philippine Golf Tour (LPGT) inaugural Order of Merit winner Cyna Rodriguez, three-time junior world champion Jed Dy, and national team members Regine De Guzman and Bambi De La Paz.  The TJGL family under the tireless leadership of Chona De La Paz still continues to meet every weekend for golf, holding the hands of its newest members and guiding them in their pursuit of success in the sport.
