/ 12:06 AM December 22, 2014

Birthday boy Chris Justine Prulla pulled off a stunning 6-1, 6-3 victory over Claudio Canlas to lead the semifinalists in the boys’ 18-under of the PSC-Philta national age-group tennis tournament at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center Sunday.

Prulla, one of the bright prospects in junior tennis who turned 16 yesterday, was in superb shape in setting up a Final Four duel against Paolo So in the centerpiece category.
So moved up after a walkover win over top seed Bryan Otico, who didn’t show up for the match.

Second seed Marcen Gonzales and Alester Magalit forged the other semifinal duel with similarly impressive wins in the quarterfinals.

Gonzales bested sixth pick Vincent Alanis, 6-3, 6-0, while Magalit crushed Kyle Joseph, 6-2, 6-3.
