Concerns beset SEAG drive

To keep their focus and preserve their fitness, Filipino athletes will have their movements and diet closely monitored by officials of the country’s delegation to the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.

The new concerns came after  Singapore, host of the 11-nation meet on June 5 to 16, did away with the traditional practice of setting up a Games’ village that will house all athletes. Instead, they will be housed in hotels near the areas of competition.

“We’ll be strict with the monitoring of our athletes,” said chef de mission Julian Camacho, treasurer of the Philippine Olympic Committee and an official of the Philippine Wushu Federation. “They will not be allowed to go out of the hotel during game days.” June Navarro
