Manny Pacquiao won’t get tired calling out Floyd Mayweather.
The Filipino ring superstar is treading the extra mile so that his much-anticipated fight with the unbeaten American could happen this year.
“What’s important is for the fight to push through,” said Pacquiao in Filipino during a GMA 7 interview yesterday. “It’s a good thing that there are talks going on.”
Despite the sudden silence on the fight from the Mayweather camp, Pacquiao said he remains hopeful that the world’s top-earning athlete will eventually honor his word to fight Pacquiao on May 2.
For Pacquiao, the date and venue are immaterial.
He is also willing to let Mayweather dictate the terms (purse split and pay per view sharing) and conditions (venue, drug testing protocol, weight limit, gloves to be used) in order that the long-awaited fight will happen.
Pacquiao said he feels fight fans and the sporting world in general deserve to see them tangle in the ring and find out who’s really the better boxer.
He added that he is willing to wait for Mayweather’s announcement on whether the fight will finally materialize or go into the dustbin again.
Only if Mayweather rejects his team’s offers will Pacquiao entertain thoughts of tackling another boxer in the first half of the year.
Clearly, it’s Mayweather for Pacquiao, and then the rest.
