MANILA, Philippines—It looked like a mere warmup for defending champions Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles as they easily dispatched the lowly University of the East Lady Warriors 3-0, 25-7, 25-17, 25-8, in the UAAP Season 77 Women’s Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Arena in San Juan.

Rookie Therese Gaston booked the win for Ateneo with a crosscourt kill that bounced off the UE defense, her sole point in the match.

Ateneo would face arch nemesis De La Salle University on Sunday in a much-anticipated showdown between two undefeated teams.
