MANILA, Philippines —”I think it will happen.”
Fighter of the Decade Manny Pacquiao is optimistic that he and unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather Jr. will finally meet in the ring.
“We will make an announcement before the end of the month. I think it (fight) will happen,” Pacquiao said in a phone interview with The Manila Standard Today.
A report by the Los Angeles Times last Saturday said that both camps had already agreed that the possible showdown between boxing’s top two pound-for-pound fighters will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
And while the date remains unsettled, it will likely be on May 2 mainly because according to Pacquiao, “that’s what Mayweather wants.”
Pacquiao attended Game 3 of the 2015 PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel Beer and Alaska on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum along with Kia’s 7-foot-4 Puerto Rican import Peter John Ramos.
